Governors

The Governors are all people who are interested in the development of the school. They are willing to work at supporting the school and able to strengthen links between the school and its community. Below are the names of Church Lane Primary School and Nursery Governors:

Re-election

Mrs Barbara Jones (Chair of Governors)

I have been a Governor for many years, seeing many changes including the building of the present School.

EYFS is my special interest as I firmly believe that creating an environment that encourages, creates an enquiringly mind  and offers new opportunities is important, as Church Lane does.

Mrs Christine James

My name is Christine James and have been a Governor at Church Lane Primary and Nursery School since Jan 2009.

I spent 17 years in the Armed Forces and then joined the Civil Service where I had experience in Property Management and Finance.

I started as a Parent Governor, and then when my children left Church Lane, to move to Secondary School, I became a co-opted Governor.  My Responsibilities are School Council and I chair the School Development Committee and sit on the Finance/Resource Committee.  I am retired, still a carer for my youngest son who is still at Secondary School.  I volunteer at Church Lane two afternoons a week reading with some of the children.

Mrs Melanie Porter (Parent Governor/ Safeguarding and KS1 Governor)

I have been a governor at Church Lane school for over 5 years. I have had 4 children attend the school, my youngest who still attends is in yr 4 ,and my eldest being 25, which means i have been in and out of the school gates for over 20 yrs! . As a governor my main focuses are safe guarding, early years and online safety, (which often means lots of reading) I am very proud to be part of Church Lane community and have seen it grow over the years into an excellent school.

I have spent my whole career working for Lincolnshire County Council starting my career many years ago teaching dance and drama in a large social education centre in Lincoln for people with a learning disability, which i did for 16 yrs. When my third child came along i decided i needed to work nearer to home and  now manage the  Sleaford day opportunities service for people with a learning disability. I feel very fortunate to of always done a job that i love, and hopefully bring some my experience i have gained over the years to my role as a governor.
